Even at the age of 80, Billy Dee Williams is ready to get back to work. Unfortunately Rian Johnson, the director of Star Wars Episode VIII The Last Jedi never got the memo and the actor won't appear in the film. Williams' agent gave a statement to Entertainment Weekly.

"Billy respects the studio and all involved in the decision but would be happy to be in any future Star Wars film if asked."

Johnson told EW that the idea of Williams appearing in a cameo never came up.

"No, and I don't want fans to get their hopes up," writer-director Rian Johnson tells EW. "He's not in the film and it was never really something that came up. I mean, I loved that character. It would have been fun to see him, but it's just not something that ever really had a place in the story."

Star Wars Episode VIII The Last Jedi is set to release December 15, 2017.
