James Gunn Thinks Jodie Foster's Dismissal Of Superhero Films Is Old-Fashioned

Foster also doesn't want to make $200 million superhero movies. Doubtful she'd get that offer now.

In a recent interview promoting Black MirrorJodie Foster, director of The Beaver starring Mel Gibson, criticized modern studio filmmaking and superhero movies in general. Oddly, she compares going to the movies to a theme park, which to most people is an enjoyable experience.

"Going to the movies has become like a theme park. Studios making bad content in order to appeal to the masses and shareholders is like fracking — you get the best return right now but you wreck the Earth."

The actor/director also claims that experience is ruining the American population. The same could be said for the movie Flightplan, though.

"It's ruining the viewing habits of the American population and then ultimately the rest of the world. I don't want to make $200 million movies about superheroes."

Luckily for Foster, I don't think any studio is offering her that gig.

Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 1 and Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 2 director James Gunn wasn't going to take this sitting down, so he stood up and took to Twitter, first calling Foster's views "old-fashioned."

Gunn then gave his thoughts on what he thinks movies need to survive.

Gunn never disparages Foster's different point of view though.

Even acknowledging his respect toward her and her legacy.

In the end, it seems that Jodie Foster just isn't into superhero movies.
