Last weekend saw Gary Oldman receive his first Screen Actor's Guild award after a lifetime of acting for his role as Winston Churchill in Darkest Hour. But it was an exchange on the red carpet before the show that got Marvel fans buzzing.
Oldman is no stranger to superhero movies having played Commissioner Gordon in the Christopher Nolan Batman films. While discussing the time it took to get into makeup, E! Red Carpet host Nina Parker asked Oldman if we'd see him in a different skin color possibly in a superhero film.
"Can we get you in Marvel?" Parker asks.
"Well, um, Marvel haven't called me, but now you've mentioned it. If they're tuning in–" Oldman responds before being cut off by his wife.
Giselle Schmidt adds, "You're not the only one who's asked. My son who's 9, he asks all the time."
"He wants me to be one of those, with a cape, flying around," Gary responds.
