Forgetting it purchased Marvel years ago for $4 billion, Disney announced a publishing partnership with Dark Horse to release comics based around Disney film properties. The first release will be a three-issue mini-series called Disney Frozen. The mini will be written by Joe Caramagna with art by from the Kawaii Creative Studio.
Disney Frozen #1 finds Queen Elsa and Princess Anna trying to get to the bottom of things when the peace of their beloved kingdom is disrupted. There's a wild animal loose in the village, destruction in the forest, and unrest brewing in a nearby kingdom. Luckily, Elsa and Anna will have the help of Olaf, Kristoff . . . and a mysterious, adventurous young woman to restore peace in their kingdom.
This isn't the first time that Disney has farmed out its properties to the minor leagues. IDW Publishing released its first Star Wars comic last August. Though this was presumably so editor Jordan D. White could spend less time editing and more time ukeleleing.
Disney and Dark Horse plan to announce more projects in the next few months.
