A five-week January helped bolster the month, while Doomsday Clock #3 and Dark Nights Metal #5 helped DC have a strong January, with dollar sales up 15% over its total from the previous year. Copies of Doomsday Clock dropped less than a thousand copies from December to January. Meanwhile, sales overall by dollar are down 1.97% and units are down 10.26% from the year prior.

Marvel was January's top publisher in dollars with a 34.30% retailer dollar share and a 36.69% unit share, but DC led in units shipped with a 38.94% unit share and a 33.80% retailer dollar share.

DC held six of the top ten best-selling single issue spots, while The Walking Dead #175 sold more copies than the best-selling Marvel title.
