Eric Stephenson To Co-Own Image Comics, Company He Didn't Create

Kind of goes against the whole creator-owned ethos, doesn't it?

Image Comics Publisher Eric Stephenson is being added to the company's board of directors which gives him co-ownership, alongside Robert Kirkman, Erik Larsen, Todd McFarlane, Marc Silvestri, and Jim Valentino, who also all own a stake of the company.

During his long-tenure as Publisher of the company, Stephenson has championed creator-rights and owning your creations, which goes against his becoming a partner and co-owner of a company he didn't create.

Before becoming Publisher, Stephenson worked as an assistant to Valentino, as Extreme Studios' Editor-in-Chief, as Image's Director of Marketing, then Executive Director of Image.

Stephenson will continue in his role as Publisher in addition to the newly-created position of Chief Creative Officer.
