Batgirl Might Be Getting Gay

Roxane Gay threw her hat into the ring to write Batgirl following Joss Whedon's exit.

Yesterday Joss Whedon exited the upcoming Batgirl movie citing not having any ideas as the reason.

"Batgirl is such an exciting project, and Warners/DC such collaborative and supportive partners, that it took me months to realize I really didn't have a story," Whedon told The Hollywood Reporter in a statement.

Bad Feminist author Roxane Gay has thrown her hat into the ring to write the film in his stead taking to Twitter.

While Wynonna Earp showrunner Emily Andras and comic book writer Gail Simone have both stated their interest in writing the film, this appears to be the first time Warner Bros. has responded to the interest.

Michelle Wells, a vice president at Warner Bros. Entertainment, reached out to Gay and maybe she'll get the job from a tweet. Doesn't get much more 2018 than that.
