As reported last October, the Avatar: The Last Airbender comic from Dark Horse will continue its story with a new creative team in 2018. Faith Erin Hicks will be taking over writing duties from writer Gene Luen Yang and will continue to work with original show's co-creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko on the story. Peter Wartman will be doing art on the new title.
At the time of the announcement, not much information about the new comic -- aside from the new creators -- was announced. While still thin on detail, we at least have a title, date, a premise. The new Avatar comic by Hicks will be a three-parter and will be titled Avatar: The Last Airbender — Imbalance Part One. It will be available on October 10. Here's the barebones premise:
The first part of a new trilogy, this story finds Aang, Katara, Sokka, and Toph dealing with a conflict between benders and non-benders in a booming industrial town.

Dark Horse will also be producing a new one-shot anthology title called Avatar: The Last Airbender – Team Avatar Tales. This title will have multiple creative teams working on its stories, and some of the stories in it will be new and others from the Free Comic Book Day issues. Yang and Hicks will be contributing, as well creators such as Carla Speed McNeil, Ron Koertge, Dave Scheidt, and Sara Goetter. The one-shot is set to arrive before the continuing adventures of Aang and friends, on September 5. It is described as:
In classic Avatar style, the comic is set to include both adventurous stories (such as saving a pumpkin farmer from monsters) and serious reflection on deep issues, like what it means to save the world.
