Season 8 Midseason Premiere Is The Walking Dead's Lowest Watched Ever

Is this the beginning of the end?

Things aren't looking good for The Walking Dead as the Season 8 midseason premiere was the lowest rated midseason premiere in the show's history at a 3.6 rating in adults 18-49 and 8.3 million viewers. This is slightly up from the midseason finale ratings (3.4, 7.9 million). The drop off comes even with the death of a major character during the episode after being revealed in the midseason finale.

Season 8 has had the lowest rating for the show since season 2 and the premiere episode was the show's lowest-rated since season 3. This is despite the fact that the premiere episode was also the show's 100th episode.

In January, Angela Kang was promoted to showrunner of The Walking Dead following Scott Gimple's promotion to chief content officer overseeing the entire Walking Dead universe including the main title, Fear The Walking Dead, and other possible shows.
