'Star Trek IV' Reportedly Gets A Director

First female director for the Star Trek movie franchise

Source: ‘Star Trek 4’: S.J. Clarkson Becomes the First Female Director in Franchise’s History (EXCLUSIVE)

It was just yesterday that we got word that Paramount was working on not one, but two Star Trek movies and today we get more news on the movie front. It seems that the fourth movie in the Star Trek movie reboot series has selected a director. In a first for the movie franchise's history, it will be a woman: S.J. Clarkson. Clarkson has mostly done television work, and genre fans may recognize her name from the shows Jessica Jones and The Defenders.

Variety, who broke the news, says the fourth movie is the rumored movie featuring the return of Kirk's dad, Thor. Apparently, their reunion will involve time travel which continues the reboot aping the original movies' plot elements (Khan, destruction of the Enterprise then getting a new one, and now time travel). Variety also says the Tarantino Trek movie is still being written, so will be coming after IV. Perhaps that one will involves marshmelons.

It's unknown when either of these sequels will hit the big screen.
