Batman: White Knight Becomes DC Black Label Title

The series can't be delayed if it's already complete!

DC's Black Label's flagship title Superman: Year One was revealed as delayed last month, so to counterbalance the delay, DC has decided to count Sean Gordon Murphy's Batman: White Knight as a Black Label title, giving them a fully completed series right out of the gate!

In March, Murphy alluded to this idea on Twitter:

"BWK was an unplanned success that caught everyone off guard. It might have been a Black Label book if I have waited a year- but in a way it accidentally jumped the gun. Who knows, maybe it'll be absorbed by Black Label."

While the hardcover wasn't considered a part of the Black Label, it will be starting with the softcover which is set to release October 9.

Other Black Label titles include:

  • Frank Miller and John Romita Jr on Superman: Year One
  • Brian Azzarello and Lee Bermejo on Batman: Damned
  • Kelly Sue DeConnick and Phil Jimenez on Wonder Woman Historia: The Amazons
  • John Ridley's The Other History of the DC Universe
  • Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo on Batman: Last Knight on Earth
  • Greg Rucka on Wonder Woman: Diana's Daughter
