A solo film of Marvel's Black Widow has been talked about for a while, but has yet to be announced. For a movie that hasn't been announced though, there has been a (unconfirmed) movement. For instance, the hiring of writer Jac Schaeffer and a possible time period (set before Iron Man 2) for the movie.
Today comes the reporting of another development, a selection of a director for the film. Apparently the selection process for the director took half a year and involved some 70 or so choices. It looks like Cate Shortland is the winner.
The Black Widow herself, Scarlett Johansson, is said to be a fan of the Australian director and liked her work in 2012's Lore.
Since the movie hasn't been announced, there is no release date yet.
