Star Wars: The Clone Wars was an animated television series (which started with a movie), that ran for 5 televised seasons starting in 2008 (13 more episodes were aired on Netflix after the show ended). If you were disappointed in the Star Wars prequel movies, this series may have helped lessen that blow. Set in the prequel era, during the (shock) Clone Wars, it followed Obi-Wan Kenobi (James Arnold Taylor) and pre-Darth VaderAnakin Skywalker (Matt Lanter) on many adventures. The show also introduced Anakin's padawan Ahsoka Tano (Ashley Eckstein) and clone trooper Captain Rex (Dee Bradley Baker), who both went on to appear in the next animated series Star Wars Rebels.

Well it looks like you can't keep a good clone trooper down, as the series is set to make a return. At the 10th anniversary Star Wars: The Clone Wars panel at San Diego Comic-Con today, showrunner Dave Filoni announced that 12 new episodes of Clone Wars will be airing on Disney's upcoming streaming service.

Check out the trailer for the upcoming Clone Wars which continues the story…
