Schwartz & Carrey Lead The Live-Action Hybrid 'Sonic The Hedgehog' Movie

Reminder: Sega videogame mascot character Sonic the Hedgehog is getting a live-action "hybrid" movie. For a game character that's based on speed, the movie has taken its sweet time, first making headlines in 2014. Well, it looks like the movie production has jumped forward now that two of its leads have been cast.

A little over a week ago, it was announced that Jim Carrey (The Mask, Ace Ventura) would be taking on the role of the series villain Dr. Robotnik/Dr. Eggman.

Today, we are hearing that the voice of our hero, Sonic, will be played by Ben Schwartz (Dewey, DuckTales reboot; Leonardo, Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles).

Also, earlier this month, we got our first peek at the movie:

 

Barring any further delays (or a whole lot of spikes), Paramount's Sonic the Hedgehog will race into theaters November 15, 2019.
