Greg Nicotero, who has worked as special make-up effects supervisor, co-executive producer and occasional director on The Walking Dead, has signed onto Todd McFarlane's Spawn reboot to handle visual effects. With the film having a smaller budger, McFarlane is focusing practical effects instead of CGI.

Nicotero is no stranger to the Spawn universe, as he handled animatronic creatures and special makeup effects for the 1997 movie. His other film credits include Sin CityArmy of Darkness, and Piranha 3D

Spawn is set to star Jamie Foxx and Jeremy Renner. No release date has been given.
