Erik Killmonger, played by Michael B. Jordan in the smash hit film Black Panther, was one of the breakout characters of said movie.Like the other breakout character from Black Panther, Shuri, Killmonger will also be getting his own comic mini-series. It looks like the comic is very much influenced by the movie version of the character.
Killmonger was once N'Jadaka, who was a Wakandan outcast, returned to take power from Wakanda's king, the Black Panther. The character first appeared in 1973's Jungle Action #6 by Don McGregor and Rich Buckler. The December 5-part mini-series Killmonger, will be brought to you by writer Bryan Edward Hill and artist Juan Ferreyra.
Here's what Hill said you can expect from Killmonger:
"I wanted to explore the choices and the failures that lead a person to dedicate their life to revenge, and how that happens. Because with Erik, I feel like it's really a tragedy. It's a story of a guy who was failed a lot by Wakanda in certain ways, by the people he met outside of Wakanda, by his own conscience in other ways, and I wanted to paint a portrait of that. Because to me the iconic fight between Erik Killmonger and T'Challa is tragic. It's something that shouldn't happen. It's a conflict that's borne from a tragic misunderstanding and a young man who was violently taken from his home."
Readers will also get to see the villainous Klaw in the mini-series.
