Storyline Resurrected: 'Dark Phoenix' Trailer Is Here (Date Updated)

X-Men: The Last Stand Special Edition

Source: 20th Century Fox YouTube channel

It looks like you can't keep an old storyline down. The Dark Phoenix story was covered in 2006's X-Men: The Last Stand, but like the famous legend it is named after, it is back, but this time with the cast from X-Men: First Class. We already got a peek of the new film, Dark Phoenix, in photos but now we get a full trailer for the movie.

Here's how 20th Century Fox describes the movie:

In DARK PHOENIX, the X-MEN face their most formidable and powerful foe: one of their own, Jean Grey. During a rescue mission in space, Jean is nearly killed when she is hit by a mysterious cosmic force. Once she returns home, this force not only makes her infinitely more powerful, but far more unstable. Wrestling with this entity inside her, Jean unleashes her powers in ways she can neither comprehend nor contain. With Jean spiraling out of control, and hurting the ones she loves most, she begins to unravel the very fabric that holds the X-Men together. Now, with this family falling apart, they must find a way to unite -- not only to save Jean's soul, but to save our very planet from aliens who wish to weaponize this force and rule the galaxy.

Dark Phoenix arrives in theaters (again) February 14, 2019, so comic book fans will have something to do on Valentines Day.

Update (09/28/18):

You'd think they would have known this yesterday when the trailer was released, but you'll have to change plans for Valentines Day now. Dark Phoenix will now land on June 7, 2019 instead. We guess you'll just have to see Alita: Battle Angel for V.D. instead.

So far, the new date has not been reflected at @20thcenturyfox, but that may change without warning.
