Netflix Announces Pacific Rim Anime for 2019!

Hopefully, the first order of business the anime does is undoing the clusterfuck of a mistake Uprising did.

Even with the misfire of Pacific Rim: Uprising this year, the franchise appears to be still among the living. It was announced by Netflix at "See What's Next: Asia" in Singapore that the property would return via an anime series (more were announced but this and Altered Carbon were the notable names of the bunch) on the streaming service in 2019.

Here's the official quote via Netflix on the series:

Pacific Rim. Returning to the epic battle of Kaiju and Jaegers, this original anime series will expand upon the story of the first two live-action movies and follow two siblings — an idealistic teenage boy and his naïve younger sister — who are forced to pilot an abandoned Jaeger across a hostile landscape in a desperate attempt to find their missing parents. Co-showrunners: Craig Kyle (Thor: Ragnarok) and Greg Johnson (X-Men: Evolution). Production Company: Legendary Entertainment (Kong: Skull Island; Pokemon: Detective Pikachu).

Even with the promise of two new original characters, hopefully, the first order of business the anime does is undo the clusterfuck of a mistake Uprising did by pointlessly axing one of the protagonists of the 2013 original film for cheap drama.  If so, then the series would have more goodwill going for it then. I mean come on. Characters from other movie franchises have survived worse or similar fates and can come back. Why can't this protagonist? It would make watching Uprising more watchable knowing the character came back from that.

Just saying.

An idealistic teenage boy and naive younger sister need some guidance and a guardian that just isn't a giant mecha.
