Live-Action 'Cowboy Bebop' To Land On Netflix

We guess it wasn't… a dream…

A couple of years ago, we brought you the tragic news that the venerable anime series Cowboy Bebop was being developed as a live-action series by a western company, Tomorrow Studios. Since a few years have passed, one might have thought the project was lost in development hell like it's Keanu Reeves-led theatrical brother. But nooooo!

The behemoth streaming company Netflix is stepping up to partner with Tomorrow Studios to bring the offbeat adventures of the ragtag bounty hunters to the world of  live-action. How will they translate the unique characters and stylish action to "real life"? We're not sure. Hopefully the representatives from Sunrise Inc. (the production company for the original anime) co-producing and original series director Shinichiro Watanabe consulting will help.

The live-action series has been ordered for a 10-episode run on the streaming service. No start date was announced.

Netflix recently announced a few new anime series premiering on their service including a new entry in the long-running Saint Seiya series, and an Ultraman  series based on the recent manga. They will also be re-running the famous Neon Genesis Evangelion series. If they only announced a new animated Cowboy Bebop series instead…

Also, announce Yoko Kanno's involvement already!

Happy 20th (Japanese) anniversary Cowboy Bebop…
