Lion Forge Comics issued a statement Monday confirming twelve employees have been let go, but the would-be publishing giant is attempting to make a massive move in the direct market; they're betting the farm on Punky.
That's right, you heard it here first. The fictional NBC sitcom character Punky Brewster, whose licensed comic used to be published by Lion Forge, is being sought after to take the CCO position.
When asked for comment, Lion Forge spokesperson Annie Totallyarealpersonson said, "We have been looking for a truly innovative thinker and we feel that Punky has the insight and knowledge base that our floundering publishing line needs."
The offer that is currently with Brewster's representation is purportedly in the six figure range. Hopefully, the forgotten network character can bring some much needed integrity to Lion Forge's "fuck it, let's do everything at once" approach to the direct market.
