Dragon Ball Super: Broly US box office level like the character who debuted in the movie knows no bounds! Opening last Wednesday to over $7 million dollars, the Dragon Ball Super movie took a weekend total of $9,794,742. The total box office the movie made since the weekend is currently at $21,914,771 (all of this per Box Office Mojo).
Now you're probably asking yourself why is this all so astonishing?
The top selling movie of the weekend, Glass, made $40.58 million over the weekend. Well, the movie was a limited event only showing at 1,236 theaters (compared to Glass's 3,841). Add in the fact that some of these showings were limited to more than one or two showings a day (some theaters did push the movie into regular rotation. Like the theater I saw it in. Go Cinemark!). So the average theater was making $7,925 per (compared to the so far #3 movie of the weekend, Aquaman, which only made $2,927 per theater).
So yes, Dragon Ball Super: Broly did all this with half the theater showings than the other three movies this weekend (so far it's tracking in fourth place. Matching its power level with back and forth in a battle with Aquaman).
Not surprising, some theaters are still showing the movie or giving it a full showing or continuing it past the week-long event it was originally to be. So yes, if you want to go see what all the hoopla is about. Dragon Ball Super: Broly might just be the hype!
