Don't give up hope true believers! Rumor has it Disney may make a new push to make Avengers the highest grossing domestic movie of all time!
Joss Whedon's 35 minute longer director's cut of Avengers
will be out on Blu Ray this fall, but AICN
is reporting that Disney plans to bring the director's cut to theaters before then in an effort to reinvigorate ticket sales and push Avengers
to the top of the all time domestic box office charts. With furry fetish film Avatar
holding a worldwide record of eight billion skillion dollars, it is unlikely that The Avengers
could win on the worldwide stage, but the domestic chart is a far more achievable goal:
Domestic Gross (in millions)
1. $760.5 Avatar
2. $658.6 Titanic
3. $573.7 The AvengersThe Outhouse
will have more news as soon as something more official is available. Until then, treat this as a rumor.
