Get ready for Act 3 of Avengers vs. X-Men in Avengers vs. X-Men #9, where Captain America goes Highlander on the Marvel Universe.
Captain America's villainous rampage throughout the Marvel Universe during Avengers vs. X-Men has been unparalleled in the history of comics. First, Cap led a team of Avengers to invade the sovereign nation of Utopia, where he attempted to kidnap a minor away from the care of her legal guardians and take her to the moon to be sacrificed as an offering to a pissed off cosmic bird god. In pursuit of this quest, the crazed, power-hungry Avenger set loose homicidal berserker and known child-murderer Wolverine on a quest to murder the girl, and presumably any mutant teenager who stands in his way. When all of these evil plans failed, and the X-Men gained control of the Phoenix Force and used it to turn the world into a veritable paradise, Cap was angrier than ever, and led another assault on Utopia, sanctioning the savage beating of innocent children by Norse god Thor along the way, which ultimately led to the successful kidnapping of Hope by the known genocidal terrorist and Avenger The Scarlet Witch.
Now, with the teaser Marvel just released, we expect this already depressing event to take a turn for the worse as the story moves into the third act. Switching gears from the Phoenix storyline, Captain America will apparently be revealed to be an immortal who can obtain the Quickening by lopping off the head of every mutant he can set his sights on. The X-Men will have no other choice but to flee the planet, leading to the rumored Uncanny X-Men book featuring the X-Men fleeing Captain America's persecution through space written by "The Great One" Brian Bendis, which is expected to be announced at San Diego Comic Con but which was of course spoiled at Bleeding Cool last week.
