SDCC: JMS Plans to Start More Projects to Leave Unfinished

J. Michael Straczynski announced a ton of new projects at San Diego Comic Con tonight, as he launches Studio JMS!

Source: Deadline

Prolific writer J. Michael Straczynski may have been slipped a roofie at a meeting with Deadline reporter Mike Fleming on the eve of San Diego Comic Con, because he was giving it up like a drunken teenager prom night. Straczynski revealed the details of six major projects he is starting, all under the banner of newly formed Studio JMS,  a media company that will handle all of his output in comics, TV, films, video games, web series, and the trolling of Alan Moore.

Straczynski, who has a less than stellar reputation when it comes to completing comics, claims to be working on a bevy of new projects. The Outhouse has compiled the list here, along with the odds that Straczynski will actually see the project through to completion.

1:1 - The Flickering Light

This fact-based film about Nazi propagada director Leni Reifenstahl is being billed as Schindler's List 2: Electric Bugaloo. The project is a guaranteed Oscar, so it is highly likely JMS will finish it, if just for the bragging rights over Jeph Loeb, who won several Razzies for Teen Wolf.

1:2 - The Adventures of Apocalypse Al

This web series is being produced in conjunction with MTV.com, which means there is a large potential audience for JMS to disappoint when he gives up halfway through. There is, however, a decent chance that the series will air on MTV's cable network instead as the network will be suffering a huge programming draught now that Snooki is pregnant.

1:5 - Living Dead The Musical

This one is another web series, self-financed by Studio JMS, which means the company has a personal stake in completing it. However, the concept of a zombie musical is probably too awesome to see the light of day, and we expect JMS will find something to distract him before anything more than concept art and maybe a teaser trailer are produced.

1:10 - Epidemic

JMS will be teaming up with Will Smith for this TV project, which one might think translates to a high probability of completion, but Smith is too successful of an actor to allow his career to be tainted by the rancid stink of television, which has just now washed off twenty years after Fresh Prince ended.

1:25 - Vlad Dracula

This television show is being developed in conjunction with Sam Raimi for Starz. While it would be absolutely hilarious to see a Dracula song and dance number that ends in the devil retconning Vlad's abusive relationship with Mina Harker, JMS will likely walk away after just a few episodes when he figures out that nobody watches fucking Starz.

0:Hell - Joe's Comics

JMS will be reviving his Joe's Comics imprint in partnership with Image Comics. The imprint published the popular graphic novels Midnight Nation and Rising Stars, and will launch next spring with four new comics that feature entirely new characters, and thus will avoid the traditional JMS pitfall of raping the childhoods of their readers: Falling Angel, Ten Grand, Guardians, and Sidekick. However, there is nothing JMS loves more than leaving comics unfinished (except possibly donuts) (because he is fat), so it is a sure bet that all four of these comics will be abandoned before the second act.
