Marvel rejects an all-women team book by Marjorie Liu and Mike Perkins as they believe the concept wouldn't sell.

According to sources at Bleeding Cool, Marvel rejected a pitch for a Marjorie Liu-helmed all-women team book. The team would have featured X-23, Elektra, Black Widow and some other comic book chick who can't sell shit. Apparently Mike Perkins would have drawn it as well. Marvel had allegedly told Liu that the concept, "a bunch of bitches in tight clothing beating dudes up," would not sell. Too bad for everyone!
It's obvious that Marvel doesn't believe women can sell comics, as women in tight-ass clothes have been the secondary (or even tertiary) selling point for comics for decades. I guess they really believe that everyone who bought those Jim Lee 90s comics bought them solely for the stories.
All Marvel had to do was put a picture of Marjorie Liu's fine ass on the cover of every issue and it would have been their top seller. Like I said, everybody loses...
Then again, perhaps they rejected the title because they already have a book about an all-women superhero team: The Avengers.
