The actor sets the record straight on his "retirement" from action movies at while promiting CZ 12 (Chinese Zodiac) at San Diego Comic Con.
At the Cannes Film Festival in May, Jackie Chan said that CZ 12 would be his final action movie, leaving fans of the 58 year old actor disappointed. At San Diego Comic Con, however, Chan gave fans new hope when he clarified that it would not be his last action movie, but his last "big" action movie.
In a move The Outhouse can't help but feel is slightly racist, ComicBookResources printed the following quote from Chan: "No – this wrong message! It's not last action film – I'm not retiring!"
While 58 is an advanced age for an action star, recent developments in cinema like Harrison Ford's reprisal of his Indiana Jones role in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull and Sylvester Stallone's geriatric ensemble franchise The Expendables, have changed the rules and allow for an actor to extend his action roles long past the point of credibility.
In fact, Chan expressed interest today in appearing in a future Expendables movie, saying he'd "jump at the chance" to join Expendables 3, after having to unfortunately turn down Expendables 2. "All the old friends together – so fun! I was almost involved, but at that time I'm making the 12 Zodiacs. Nothing – only 12 Zodiacs. Now, I just finished – at that time, they touch on me, but I just say sorry, I cannot."
