SDCC 2012 Avengers Vs X-Men Panel

The San Diego Comic-con 2012 Avengers Vs. X-Men (AVX) Panel was light on news, preferring rather to provide an update and Q&A about Marvel's current event.

Attending the panel was moderator Arune Singh along with Joe Quesada, Axel Alonso, Christos Gage, Nick Lowe, and CB Cebulski.

Talk of deaths, an appearance of some of the characters in the Avengers Alliance game, upcoming titles (already announced), a character that will appear in "five months", a "special treat" for Black Panther and Storm, and the Sentry?

There was lots of talk about Cyclops' death here (joking and speculation, no confirmations) and AVX was described as being the "epilogue" of 8 years of stories. This will bring the X-Men back into the fold of the larger Marvel Universe.

The Phoenix Five (with a different character swapped out for Namor) will be making an appearance in the Avengers Alliance Facebook game.

Because you demanded it, New Era will be producing a line of AVX hats this Fall.

The panel went over some of the titles that were announced yesterday including A-Babies Vs X-Babies (one-shot) and AVX: Consequences (5-issue series, different artist on each issue).

Alonso claims that AVX will end in a bang and that a lot of fans will be "pissed", while others will applaud.

There was brief talk about Marvel NOW! (not a reboot!) and specifically mentioned Uncanny Avengers as a snapshot of the Marvel Universe post-AVX.

It was then time for Q&A.
- When asked about Monica Rambeau (aka. Captain Marvel, Pulsar, Photon), CB Cebulski said that we'd see that character in "five months".
- Uncanny X-Men #20 was discussed, saying that the script was "chilling"
- CB Cebulski wants non-cat Beast back (yes!)
- Oliver Coipel was in the audience and was asked to join the panel
- The tense relationship between Black Panther and Storm was noted, but Lowe said to look for a "special treat" for them in AVX: VS #5
- Because the helmet-like "character" was shown in Quesada's Marvel NOW! promo image, an audience member asked about the return of the Sentry because of CLOC; the response was that fans should not be surprised at another big Summer Marvel event next year
