The following is, supposedly, news about the television show Glee from San Diego Comic Con.
This reporter knows little about the television show Glee other than the fact that bald producer Ryan Murphy will accuse you of being a horrible person who wants to prevent children from listening to music if you don't watch it, and that it is one of those sacred cows that you're not allowed to make fun of. But I do understand that people like the show a lot, and so, with that in mind, I relay these panel highlights to you, oh Glee fans, along with my best attempt at taking it seriously:
Cast member Lea Michele "cried all day" when she learned that her character Rachel would be breaking up with Cory Montieth's character Finn, ending their possibly lesbian relationship, as Cory and Finn are both kind of ambiguous names. In any case, life will go on for Rachel as Season 4 picks up with school starting at NYADA and Rachel dealing with the challenges of living alone in New York City.
Adding to Rachel's troubles, Kate Hudson will guest star as an NYADA dance instructor who believes in negative reinforcement, hopefully paddling.
Kurt will be back in Lima and in an "interesting place" emotionally. Executive producer Brad Falchuk said that "[Kurt and Rachel] are best friends so it would be hard to keep them apart," but wouldn't confirm that Kurt will follow Rachel to New York. Suspenseful!
Darren Criss, who plays Blaine, said that Blaine and Kurt would try to make what I am 90% certain is their homosexual relationship work despite the perils of long distance romance.
Naya Rivera, who plays Santana, said her character will be a cheerleader at UC Louisville, but couldn't reveal much else about her storyline. Speaking of her character' s almost certainly lesbian relationship with with Britanna, Rivera said, "I don't know, I think right now as we left it, they're really good and they definitely love each other so I hope they'll make it."
Another pair of characters, Mike and Tina (this one we're pretty sure about), will also be attempting to maintain a long distance relationship.
Finn will be preparing for boot camp and will shave his head for the show.
The New Directions will be underdogs again, trying to get 12 kids together for sectional competitions.
Every regular cast member from the previous season will be back next year, though the location sprawl will prevent many from appearing in the same episodes.
Sam Larsen and Alex Newell are in negotiations to become regular cast members.
There will be a variety of songs next season as Ryan Murphy bullies bands into contributing. We will see classic rock as well as modern stuff. Well, you will see it, not me.
Rumors that we will meet "Puck's brother" in season four were teased but not confirmed.
No wedding plans for the engaged and likely heterosexual couple Will and Emma, though they will be living together in the new season.
