What comes after the Summer of Valiant? The Fall of Valiant, of course!
Well they didn't say that, but that would be a cool (and you're welcome to use it, Valiant). The panel took place in front of a small, but enthusiastic crowd at the back of the Convention Center.
-Asked what comes after the Summer of Valiant, we found out that Ninjak will be showing up in X-O Manowar #5. This marks the first story arc in the new Valiant Universe so it promises to be an important one. Ninjak is the foremost weapons-specialist in the Valiant Universe, and the Manowar armor being the technological marvel that it is obviously draws Ninjak's attention.
-Joshua Dystart (writer of Harbinger) laid out the plans to introduce Peter's team, with Faith, Torque, and Flamingo making their debuts in Harbinger #5. Asked why the characters are being introduced so late, the writer countered that the initial issues focuses on the Peter/Harada relationship, which it the core of the book.
-Executive Editor, Warren Simons, talked about how everything that happened in Bloodshot #1 is integral to the Valiant Universe. He also mentioned that Archer and Armstrong will be introducing other characters into the Valiant fold, such as the Eternal Warrior (already seen in X-O).
-There are plans to do a line-wide event, but no time soon.
-Characters will show up in one another's books, but no details given.
-New character will also be introduced in the coming months. Valiant is aware of the need for diversity in the universe, with the possibility of a female lead on a team book (H.A.R.D. Corps or Secret Weapons would be my guess).
-Valiant announced a 3-year goal of achieving 15 monthly titles (if you reverse the numbers and add 1, you get '52'. Coincidence?). One more book will be launched before the end of the year and another is slated for April 2013.
-There are no plans to reacquire Classic Media characters such as Turok, Doctor Solar, Magnus Robot Fighter or others.
-There are plans to reprint classic Valiant titles with the first being Bloodshot.
-Valiant is reinstituting the Gold Book program, where fans that go out of their way for the company are rewarded with a special "Gold Book" variant of an issue. This is similar to the original run of Valiant comics and all people who attended the panel received a gold edition of X-O Manowar #1.
-Valiant will be working with the Wounded Warrior Foundation charity by auctioning off Gold Book editions.
