Pick up the new graphic novel Sunset from Gage and Lucas before the co-creators decide to ruin it with unnecessary edits, nonsensical retcons, and a boring prequel.
Sunset hits stores today, a new graphic novel from Avengers Academy writer Christos Gage with art by Star Wars director Jorge Lucas. The graphic novel aims to channel the spirit of noir grandfather Raymond Chandler, and stars Nick Bellamy, an aged ex-mob enforcer who sets out on a quest for revenge and redemption. It sounds like a recipe for hard-boiled success, and fans of crime comics will definitely want to check this out. The Outhouse recommends they do it soon, because Gage's artist, Jorge Lucas, is unable to leave a project alone once completed, and will likely be returning to the book soon to pencil in more characters and scenery and ruin everything that's great about it. Lucas, who... wait, what? Oh. Yeah that makes more sense.
This reporter must apologize. I have just been informed that Jorge Lucas, a comic book artist who has worked on Annihilation: Ronan, Mystique, and The Darkness, is in no way related to George Lucas, the director of Star Wars. In fact, Jorge isn't even pronounced the same way as George, making this reporter's confusion even more unlikely and embarrassing.
The Outhouse apologizes for this misinformation, which was definitely due to an honest mistake and not an attempt to garner sweet unique hits from misled Star Wars fans, and hopes that you will help us make up for it by picking up Sunset at your local comic shop today. The hardcover graphic novel retails for $19.99, and it looks like a great chance to see Gage outside his Avengers Academy element, an opportunity which is increasingly rare since Avengers Academy ships approximately 3 times a week.

SOMETIMES ALL YOU CAN DO IS GO OUT WITH GUNS BLAZING...
In the noir tradition of Chandler and Spillane comes SUNSET, a two-fisted tale of revenge and redemption. On the surface, Nick Bellamy looks like any other veteran retiree left behind by a modern world. In reality, Nick is a former enforcer, who stole a fortune and years of freedom from his former mob boss. Now, in the twilight of his life, Nick will lose everything he cares about except two things: revenge... and the chance to die with his guns blazing.
Writer CHRISTOS GAGE (Avengers Academy, GI Joe: Cobra) and artist JORGE LUCAS (THE DARKNESS) promise to hit hard with Minotaur Press's first original graphic novel that will make you forget all about your Prius and organic whole-grain trans-fat-free diet.
