Joe Simon passed away yesterday at the age of 98.
The Outhouse has learned that legendary comics creator Joe Simon has passed away at the age of 98. Simon is best known for the creation of Captain America and as the first editor in chief of Timely Comics, which would eventually become known as Marvel Comics. Simon, along with frequent partner and collaborator Jack Kirby, helped shaped the comic book industry in what it is today and introduced both romance and horror comics into the industry. In addition, Simon was the creator of DC's Golden Age Sandman, Wesley Dodds, the Newsboy Legion and Manhunter as well as lesser known creations Prez and Brother Power the Geek.
The Outhouse thanks Mr. Simon for his immense contributions to the comic book industry and passes along its condolences to his family and friends.
