The artist was fifty-seven years old.
The Outhouse has learned that Uruguay-born artist Eduardo Barreto has passed away.
Barreto rose to prominence in the 1980's, working on such comics as The New Teen Titans, Lex Luthor: The Unauthorized Biography, and Speeding Bullets, the Elseworlds tale of a rocket from Krypton landing in Gotham City and the alien boy inside being raised by Thomas and Martha Wayne (a story in which there is no Superman, but a super-powered Batman).
Barreto spent the last couple of years working on newspaper strips, but his work was interrupted by various ailments such as injuries sustained in a car accident and the meningitis that is believed to have claimed his life.
The Outhouse offers condolences to Mr. Barreto's loved ones.
