Because patent trolling has been so successful for Apple, Google, Samsung, and Oracle...
BOOM! Studios sent us this image today, advertising a new comic by Mark Waid based on the Avengers television show from the sixties. The image also taunts the Hellfire Club, an actual pervert club in Europe in the 1700s that was reportedly frequented by naughty historical gentlemen such as Ben Franklin. The club was featured in an episode of the Avengers TV show, and inspired Chris Claremont to create the X-Men Villains. It will now be reimagined in a comic book based on the show touting itself as The Original Avengers to capitalize on the success of Marvel's Avengers film, currently the #1 movie in the world for the third week in a row.
Comics are a filthy, incestuous business, and we at the Outhouse can only hope this leads to Marvel retitling their 37 Avengers titles as "The REAL Avengers" in a nod to the 1980s Real Ghostbusters animated series that was named in response to a cartoon featuring the earlier but lamer Filmation Ghostbusters property, which this reporter is fairly certain featured a monkey. Luckily for BOOM!, The Avengers television show had a notable advantage over Filmation's Ghostbusters: Diana Rigg.
Now here's a clip of the episode in French (which only makes it sexier):
