Hear all about the campaign to bring back Stephanie Brown here.
Stephanie Brown is an...interesting character. Having held the roles of Batgirl, Robin and Spoiler, this child of the 90s has developed a passionate fan following even greater than fellow fictional teenager Spider-Girl. That fan following was devestated to learn that the character would not be making the transition to the DCnU and has been among the loudest detractors of the company's new initative.
Now, they are making their voices known. On August 10th, Stephanie Brown fans will be sending frozen waffles to DC's offices to help secure a greater role for the character in the new DC universe. The waffles refer to a line from the first issue of Bryan Miller's Batgirl series which was cancelled on August 10, 2011. The Waffles for Stephanie site also asks fans to write letters talking about why they love Stephanie Brown and why the DC world just isn't the same without her. The campaign hopes to convince DC executives to change their mind about the character and bring her into the new DC universe.
The Outhouse, which has been recently criticized for its mocking of hardcore fan bases, wants to help. We pledge to assist this campaign by sending a waffle for every post in this thread which contains a brief genuine comment in support of Stephanie Brown (limit one waffle for poster).
Members of this site might be asking "Why would the Outhouse assist the fanbase of a character it loves to mock?" The answer to that is simple: we like to make fun of things we enjoy. Bryan Miller's Batgirl was a fantastic series and didn't deserve the fate pushed down on it by DC's executive staff. Plus, Outhouse writer Zechs is a huge Stephanie Brown fan and he's responsible for about 20% of our front page traffic, so it's something nice for him.
So if you want a waffle sent in your name, talk about Stephanie Brown (positively) in the comments and we'll get on top of that.
