An interview with Ann Nocenti on Newsarama reveals some juicy information about the DCnU.
Source: Newsarama
The lovely and talented Vaneta Rogers at Newsarama interviewed new Catwoman writer Ann Nocenti, and Nocenti revealed some details of her plans for the series. Firstly, Selina will become a "jet-setting heroine," travelling to different locations instead of staying based out of Gotham City. Nocenti also plans to delve into the kleptomaniac aspect of Selina's character, exploring the desire to steal things out of compulsion or thrill-seeking rather than need.
Most importantly, however, Nocenti promises that Catwoman will remain an object of the sexually arrested fantasies of virginal readers, saying "I actually have a peculiar feminism that does not involve the idea that women shouldn't be sexy. Female characters written in comics have always been pretty damned sexy, and used their sexuality. And I don't have any problem with that."
In a followup question, Nocenti goes into more detail:
Rogers: We saw Catwoman and Batman dealing with a relationship early in the title after the relaunch, although it appeared to be ended and resolved. But will that pair get together again at all in your run?
Nocenti: You know, I have a brand new boy for her. So I probably will take her down a different road with the man in her life, just for a little while.
...
Rogers: Not just objects?
Nocenti: Right.
Interesting.
The interview also made a very interesting assertion as a side note, claiming that Newsarama has inside information that DC's currently available solicitations are outdated and that there will be more shakeups in creative teams in the coming months.
