Will the illustrious Neil Gaiman return to DC to write a new chapter of Sandman?!
Source: Bleeding Cool
Tabloid journalist Rich "Scoopy-Doo" Johnston over at Bleeding Cool is reporting on a rumor he heard in "bar talk" at San Diego comic con last night, possibly in a bathroom stall, and possibly through a glory-hole. There's no evidence that's where he heard it, but none specifically prohibitting it either. Anyway, the rumor is that Neil Gaiman has been approached and is currently in negotiations with DC Comics to join disgraced artist J.H. Williams, who needs a win to make up for his abysmal and incoherent writing on Batwoman, in writing a new Sandman book, focusing on what Dream was doing when he was captured by humans before the beginning of the series. Call it a Sandman Zero, if you will. Which we will. Sandman Zero.
There is no official announcment, but expect one soon as Gaiman, like other well-respected and influential creators, has likely learned his lesson after seeing DC destroy Alan Moore's life with their Watchmen prequels, so he will not want to risk seeing his beloved Sandman work immortalized on a slice of wheat toast. In fact, it's rumored that Gaiman allowed Jeff Lemire to use his Tim Hunter character in Justice League Dark just to keep DC's unquenchable thirst for creator butthurt momentarily sated.
