George Bush Beheaded on Game of Thrones?

George Bush Beheaded on Game of Thrones?

The former U.S. President's head appears on a stake in various scenes of Season One of the hit HBO show Game of Thrones.

A Word From Our Sponsors... More Below!

This story is making the rounds this morning. Apparently, when lovable King Joffrey is showing Sansa Stark her father's head on a spike in Season One, there are some other decapitated heads in the scene as well. One of them happens to be a model of George W. Bush, considered by many (such as this reporter's mom) to be one of the greatest presidents of all time, behind Lincoln and Nixon. The show's creators claim that the head was included out of convenience rather than desire to make a political statement, as they just happened to have one lying around I guess. HBO apologized for the controversy with the following statement:

We were deeply dismayed to see this and find it unacceptable, disrespectful and in very bad taste. We made this clear to the executive producers of the series who apologized immediately for this inadvertent careless mistake. We are sorry this happened and will have it removed from any future DVD production.

So it seems HBO will be casting for a new decapitated head to replace Bush's in future releases of the show on DVD. May we recommend Jeph Loeb's?
