Powers on FX: Still Not Dead

The Powers TV show on FX is still in development. Just so you know.

For most TV projects, or any projects for that matter, new publicity announcments are usually made to signify some kind of advancement in the process of the project becoming a reality. For Powers, however, an FX television adaptation of the long running creator owned comic book by The Great One Brian Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming, the process seems to be to release an announcement every month or two just to let people know that project hasn't been killed. Encouraging.

This time, the update comes from an article on CBR, where Charles Eglee, producer of the Powers project, is quoted as saying, "Unfortunately, the announcement of 'Thief of Thieves' this last week was interpreted by a lot of people that that somehow put 'Powers' in limbo, and that's not the case at all. We're actively moving forward with ['Powers']." The article goes on to talk about the history of the project, due to lack of any actual progress to report, just like every article proclaiming the show "not dead," before saying that production is sill moving along, just very, very slowly. Even the Powers comic book, which comes out on a production schedule similar to All Star Batman and Robin The Boy Wonder or Youngblood, moves faster than this TV show.

So there you go, your Powers TV update. Still not dead. Yay!
