Looper: Time travel with a bit of....MURDER?!?!
Sometimes, you just can't bear to shoot your own future self.
That seems to be the thrust of Rian Johnson's latest film, Looper. The high concept here is that Joseph Gordon-Levitt (who first worked with Johnson on high school noir Brick) is a hitman hired by the mob to kill poor bastards sent to him from thirty years in the future. Then, he finds out that he grows up to be Bruce Willis, and before long, there's a lot of shooting and shouting. Perfect for summer!
