Perlman's donning a Hellboy costume inspired him and director Guillermo del Toro to try to make a new film.

News broke last week that Ron Perlman recently appeared in costume as Hellboy for a Make-A-Wish Foundation appearance.  People were thrilled at Perlman's generosity and kindess, but didn't expect much else to come out of it. However, seeing Perlman in costume seemed to stir something in director Guillermo del Toro's heart, causing him to attempt to make a new Hellboy film.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, del Toro said that both he and Perlman were now committed to making Hellboy 3, reversing previous non-commital statements by both Perlman and the director.  del Toro admitted that seeing Perlman in costume made him feel the time was right to work on the film, which would give more finality to the movie franchise.

Mind you, del Toro will still have to get the backing of a studio to make the film, meaning that the movie is still far from a far thing.  Still, it's an encouraging first step for the project.
