10 years ago today Sony Online Entertainment (previously working under the name Verant Interactive) launched EverQuest, a fully 3D fantasy MMO that has not only expanded and grown on its own (15 expansions, believe it or not) but has also been a huge influence on gaming in general and the MMO genre in particular.
As you can see. Sony Online is celebrating the event with having its High Elf Princess, Firiona Vie, come out of their 10th anniversary cake. In addition to special in game events, the city of San Diego, CA (the home office of Sony Online) has declared today to be "Sony Online Entertainment Day." Fans of the game can also look forward to the annual Fan Faire to be held June 25 - 28 at Bally's Hotel in Las Vegas. Tickets will begin to be sold in April.
