This week on View from the Gutters we discuss Superior Foes of Spider-Man, by Nick Spencer and Steve Lieber.
View from the Gutters is our weekly book club podcast. Each week we discuss one graphic novel or trade paperback, then nominate and vote on what to read for the next episode so you can read and discuss along with us.
This week on View from the Gutters our topic work is Superior Foes of Spider-Man, #1-6 by Nick Spencer and Steve Lieber. One of the more recent comics we've discussed, Superior Foes is a somewhat comic take (no pun intended) on the traditional team of Spider-Man villains, The Sinister Six... despite the fact that there's only five members on the team.
It's a street level look at the Marvel U. from the perspective of five C-list super-criminals as they tangle with heroes, other gangsters, and the occasional parol officer. It's a fun, witty break from the high drama of titles like the Avengers and Inhumanity.
In our recommendation section our hosts nominated Rick Remender's Uncanny X-Force, Vol. 1-4, Rice Boy, The Eternals, Vol. 3, and The Unknown for discussion on the next episode, and our selected title is Uncanny X-Force, Vol. 1-4.
Our hosts for this episode were Andrew Chard, Joe Preti, Tobiah Panshin, and Cade Reynolds.
