Written by BKThomson aka Brad Thomson on Wednesday, March 09 2011 and posted in Podcasts

Comic Book wirter Dirk Manning returns to the Pirate Podcast to talk about is Write-Or-Wrong 6 Month Plan, which even you can participate in.  Also Dirk talks about his online web comics, HOPE, TALES of MR. RHEE from Image Shadowline and FARSEEKER from ACT-I-VATE.

Manning.  Dirk Manning.  The man, the myth, the legend returns for a record setting fourth appearance on the Outhouse Pirate Podcast.  Dirk talks to the Pirate Podcast Panel of BKThomson, SuperginraiX, and sdsichero about everything and anything Manning. First up Dirk talks about his Write or Wrong article that promotes diversity in comics and discuss his 6-Month Plan to escape from books about corporately-owned superheroes that he does genuinely does not like anymore and how you can do it too.  A very pro message about to giving the little guys a chance while not knocking on the big guys, and who knows you may discover the next Nick Spencer or David Petersen.

Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo (C2E2) is right around the corner and Dirk talks about the three panels he will be participating in and as well what will be at his table in Artist Alley.  So if you are going to be at C2E2 stop by and say Hi to Dirk.

Next Dirk talked about current and upcoming online web comic projects.

From Image Comics/Shadowline comes HOPE, much to BK disappointment it is not about Hello Kitty riding a Unicorn on a rainbow, but a hard hitting tale of a mother who's super heroine identity is exposed resulting in the Child Protection Services taking her daughter away and what she will do to get her back.  Also from Image Comics/Shadowline is the noir-horror TALES of MR. RHEE, (pronounced 'Mystery'). Dirk write with artist John Ross returning to fan favorite Mr. RHEE the occult paranormal trouble shooter. As he explains is a lot more "hard-edge" than NIGHTMARE WORLD in regards to his approach to horror in this series so if you liked Dirk's previous horror tales be sure to give MR. RHEE a try.  You can check TALES of MR. RHEE and HOPE debuting at the upcoming new and improved Image Comics/Shadowline website web comic's hub starting in April.

From ACT-I-VATE ( comes FARSEEKER a book written by Manning and drawn and colored by Len O'Grady. As described on the site "Abducted from their various worlds, a rag-tag group of other-worldly strangers have been charged with a cosmic quest by a mysterious and mischievous imp who claims they are destined to save the world... but he won't tell them how! Intelligent yet all-age-friendly fantasy in the vein of The Magnificent Seven and The Hobbit, FARSEEKER updates weekly every Friday."  Dirk discussed the up-coming second chapter as well as hinted at some big news on where this web comic may be seen next.  You can read this fun web comic at on ACT-I-VATE site at

About the Author - bkthomson

Brad Thompson is, well, no one really knows.  Remember, in the old Marvel G.I. Joe comics, that pilot everyone knew but could never remember what he looked like or his name?  That’s who…wait, who am I talking about?  Oh, right, that is who Brad Thompson is.  We think, or he’s DB Cooper, maybe JD Salinger, or even Jimmy Hoffa.  All we know for sure is…

Wait, what?
