Green Lantern did not make that much green. Part 2 of our Electronic Entertainment Expo coverage and the DC Comics Retailer Road Show in the latest episode of the Pirate Podcast.
The Green Lantern feature film hit theatres last Friday from DC Entertainment and Warner Brothers. And did it ever get beaten up by the movie critics and here is just a sampling of a few choice words.
Even in the brainless world of cinematic comic books gone bad, it's as bad as it gets -- a dumb, pointless, ugly, moronic and incomprehensible jumble of botched effects, technical blunders, and cluttered chaos.
--New York Observer
As a disjointed rumble in the cosmos, it's both too much and too little, and too dorky looking. In this case, Green means stop.
A mind-numbing, misguided pandemonium that ranks as the biggest comic book misfire since "Batman & Robin" battled Poison Ivy.
--Minneapolis Star Tribune
More science-fiction space opera than superhero epic, it works in fits and starts as its disparate parts go in and out of effectiveness, but the professionalism of the production make it watchable in a comic book kind of way.
--Los Angeles Times
And the Pirate Podcast crew reaction to the film?
To be fair the crew was more objective to the film and not as harsh as the critics, but there were definitely flaws to the film as they discuss it all in great detail of the good and the bad.
Next up was part two of reviewing the news that came out of Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3). sdsichero, Dragavon and SilverPhoenix breaks down the news from Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo.
Lastly, we talk about the DC Comics Retailer Road Show. A five stops tour across the United States to meet with retailers and put the public relations machine into overdrive. The purpose of this tour is to present all of their plans for the upcoming September relaunch, dubbed "The New 52". Interest news came out of two of the stops and the crew dissected each word and meaning to see what DC is saying and what they are trying to hide.

Brad Thompson is, well, no one really knows. Remember, in the old Marvel G.I. Joe comics, that pilot everyone knew but could never remember what he looked like or his name? That’s who…wait, who am I talking about? Oh, right, that is who Brad Thompson is. We think, or he’s DB Cooper, maybe JD Salinger, or even Jimmy Hoffa. All we know for sure is…
