Written by GHERU on Tuesday, November 10 2009 and posted in Podcasts
Less comics this week for my ever shrinking audience to enjoy. SPOILERS! Reviewed this week - Psylocke #1 of 4, Deadpool Team-Up #899, Nova #31, Necrosha One-Shot, New Mutants #6, Assautl on New Olympus, Amazing Spider-Man #610, Astonishing X-Men #32, The Boys: Herogasm #6 of 6, The Boys #36, Buffy #30, and Cinderella: From Fabletown with Love #1

Text reviews below video with SPOILERS!

Psylocke #1 of 4 – not as bad as it could have been, but still not really any good. I bought it for the ‘Girl Named Hope’ back-up story and that seems to be in a weird place in relation to Cable, and the art is not a good feel there either.

Deadpool Team-Up #899 – much better than Merc with a Mouth and if it remains one shot stories I think that we will get many fun books. The problem is that there are not that many people who should try and a character that is not just funny but absurd and chaotic. I liked this issue, but it was not a great 1st (899th?) issue of a comic.

Nova #31 – I never ever thought in my entire life that I would be excited to read a Darkhawk story.

Necrosha One-Shot – This was awesome! I know that there are a lot of Blackest Night parallels, but this too has been planed for a while and so far (remember 1st issue) more has happened in this story than the entire limited series that is Blackest Night.

New Mutants #6 – I gave MN 1-5 a chance just cause it was the return of Legion (no real explanation as to how that happened) and will not continue after Necrosha (probably), but DANM that was a cool issue. Douglock / Warlock I really miss these characters, and I never read the original run of NM!

Assault on New Olympus One-Shot – No idea this was eventy enough to get a one-shot, but what well-written funny book. Herc vs Spidey was entertaining.

Amazing Spider-Man #610 – clone stuff, waiting for #611

Astonishing X-Men #32 – I get that Astonishing X-Men is in its own little corner of the X-World, but can we time it a bit better? Its so late that Emma is not in her diamond form, it has dead people back as sentinels (Necrosha), Brood (Cable), and they are not even on Asteroid M yet so we know that nothing is going to really happen cause all these characters are here now and then.

The Boys: Herogasm #6 of 6 – good for what it was, not sure why this had to be separate from the regular book except to give Robinson a break. RU is always happy to see McCrea’s work and wishes that it was back on a Hitman title.

The Boys #36 – The past two months we got Mothers Milk, a creepy appropriate name, and next month the Frenchman. Great book

Buffy #30 – I hate to say this, but I may be done with this comic. The next arc better be fucking great.

Cinderella: From Fabletown with Love #1 – Fun little spy book staring Cinderella, what’s not to love?

About the Author - GHERU

RU, or as he’s known in the writers’ room: the cute one, is relatively unappreciated in his time.  RU’s YouTube show, RUviews is watched by literally multiple people every month and his Outhouse articles have helped line many a bird cage.  Before you send RU a message, he knows that there are misspelled words in this article, and probably in this bio he was asked to write.  RU wants everyone to know that after 25+ years of collecting he still loves comic books and can’t believe how seriously fanboys take them.  RU lives in Akron Ohio (unfortunately) with WIFE, ‘lilRuRu, and the @DogGodThor.  You can also find him on Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, & even Google+ (if anyone still uses that).
