While his dog has an an aneurysm RU does his 3rd favorite thing to do with his mouth; talk about comic books!!
Batman #701, World War Hulks: Captain America Vs. Wolverine #1, World War Hulks: Spider-Man Vs. Thor #1, X-Force: Sex And Violence #1, X-Men Second Coning #2, Amazing Spider-Man #637, Astro City Special: Silver Agent #1, and The Stuff Of Legend Volume II: Book 1
as usual, text RUViews are below
Batman #701 – As some one who liked RIP, this book was obviously written as a “oh crap, we totally fucked up” reaction to the clusterfuck that has become Batman’s “death.” In my humble opinion, the only real problem with RIP was Final Crisis and Batman’s conflicting deaths, but this book was not the way to fix the problem. Over a year after one of the most complex storylines in mainstream comics history ends, I have to try and remember all the little nuances of a grant Morrison story, ugh. Again, I liked RIP, but the epilogue should be clarifying, not more confusing.
World War Hulks: Captain America Vs. Wolverine #1 & World War Hulks: Spider-Man Vs. Thor #1 – These books were the epitome of stupid fun. I had a smile on my face the whole time I was reading these, and laughed out loud quite a few times. Overall the Thor vs. Spider-Man issues was better (including the Iceman vs. Cyclops back-up) but if you have some free time, you really should Byrne steal these comics.
X-Force: Sex And Violence #1 – Ok, I have a new pet peeve, I really don’t need to know every characters real name. I know that Domino’s name was reveled in some 90s limited series that no one read, but every time I see the words “Neena Thurman” I think, “Who the Fuck is that?” Her name is Domino, end of story. Oh, the book was fun too.
X-Men Second Coning #2 – All that is important is that I was right and Starlord was wrong. Hope is not Jean Grey, and he better pay up on the bet soon. I will miss Cable until he comes back, this death did not even pretend to be permanent, ands I look forward to the new mutants and the new X-force. Best X story since AoA ended well, if not a bit late.
Amazing Spider-Man #637 – Holy crap The Grimm Hunt was phenomenal! If you haven’t read this yet, get to it, and if you are one of those boycott Spider-Man people, your loss. Joe Kelly = The Man (but really, where is Bad Dog?).
Astro City Special: Silver Agent #1 – As boring and drawn out as the Dark Age was Silver Agent was good. Any long time fan of Astro City should buy this book, it answers questions over a decade in the making, what exactly happened to the Silver Agent, and why did he come back knowing it would lead to Astro City’s and America’s “greatest shame?” Just knowing what will eventually happen made me emotional.
The Stuff Of Legend Volume II: Book 1 – The Stuff of Legend is almost a perfect comic book, and as awesome as Volume I: Into the Dark was, this looks to be even better. Delving deeper into the world of the Boogey Man and establishing a back-story. This is one of the few books worth the cover price and two months between issues. If you have not read Volume I, it is available in trade with a new story included.
