Somehow this series continues to outdo itself with every issue. After the villain Ikari emerged in issue 25, his master is finally revealed in this one. After beating DD within an inch of his life, a sore, defeated and now paranoid Matt Murdock tries to stay alive and figure out who sent Ikari. Murdock knows Ikari could strike at anytime and there is little he can do to stop him.
After talking things over with Foggy, Murdock realizes that an old friend has been messing with him. Assumed dead, Foggy tell s Matt his body was never found. That man is none other than Bulleseye. With this shocking secret, Matt gets a text from Hank Pym. Dr. Pym alerts DD to a potential location that may be what he has been looking for. By using some adrenaline, DD is able to elude the stalking Ikari long enough to get to the locations of Pym’s lead.
Upon arrival at Bullseye’s supposed layer, DD is greeted by lady Bullseye. She poses little threat to a motivated and adrenaline pumped man without fear. After dispatching her, DD is now face to face with an enclosed container which conceals his greatest foe Bullseye, with Ikari now lurking in the background.
Despite it ending badly for DD in issue 25, I’m anxious to see how he fares against this new villain in the next book. Finding out Bullseye has been pulling the strings on DD’s madness is something I would not have guessed. Bullseye is many things but the word mastermind is not one I would use to describe him. Ikari’s skills will make for another epic showdown between the two.
With those skills, I hope this arc is not the only time we see him. Despite Bullseye doing all of the planning, he is a shell of his former self, pun intended. I hope to see this second battle with Ikari lend to many more battles with the blind lawyer from Hell’s kitchen. Waid, Samnee and Rodriguez impress once again for this now $3.99 series.
