Mind MGMT #17 Review

The Sleeper Agent has awoken!

Source: Mind MGMT #17

Mind MGMT’s third story arc wraps up this week with an explosive end that rivals any blockbuster you’re likely to see in the upcoming holiday season. As the third book comes to a close we see just what all of the sleeper agent’s plans have led to; and it’s quite a doozy.
An interesting thing that Matt Kindt has done with this story arc is that each issue so far has been a sort of standalone story. The stories so far have shown us either side of the coming conflict between what remains of the Mind Management organization as each sides tries to recruit more operatives.  All the meanwhile the sleeper agent has woken up and has begun to sow the seeds of chaos in her sleepy Middle America neighborhood
The issue starts off with Megan, the sleeper agent, giving us her background story. She reveals that she was actually a double agent but has decided to go with Mind Management since her original organization has abandoned her. The action ramps into high gear as we see all of the neighbors she’s been manipulating start to brutally kill each other. Everything comes to a head in two beautifully chaotic double page spreads showing Lyme and the rest of the crew running for their lives through a devastated suburban neighborhood.
For a book that is a one man show, it continues to amaze me that Matt Kindt has been able to deliver these issues on a monthly basis, especially considering how many other books he’s currently writing. The dialogue and narration are top notch and Kindt’s watercolor artwork is as beautiful as ever. This issue is Mind MGMT and Kindt at their best and I’m tremendously excited to see where the next story arc takes us.
