When I first heard about Irredeemable Ant-Man, I decided to give it a shot. However, after two issues (or maybe it was three…), it didn’t wow me so I dropped it. But after seeing the cover, I decided to try it again and I was hooked.
IAM is about a crappy S.H.I.E.L.D. agent named Eric O’Grady who beats up Hank Pym, steals the new Ant-Man suit with his buddy, and then somehow gets the suit after his buddy dies. Now, he’s checking out Ms. Marvel in the shower. He’s a true hero!!! He soon realizes he’s on Minicarrier 13, the S.H.I.E.L.D. heilcarrier that the Mighty Avengers work out of and leaves when Ms. Marvel does (to go battle the Mole Man in Mighty Avengers).
While the Avengers are avenging or something, Ant-Man runs into Black Fox, a crappy Spider-Man villain who happens to be as old as dirt. Ant-Man delivers the “Ant-Man Special†(at a shrunk size, he flys directly into the Fox’s crotch) and robs the old man blind like a true asshole would. Now what sells this comic is exactly how irredeemable Ant-Man truely is. Watching Ms. Marvel showering and stealing from a crook during an invasion? That’s something I would proud to do and Walker illustrates it all greatly. This is a comic any asshole would be proud to own.
To discuss.
