Title: The Exterminators #17
Writer: Simon Oliver
Artist: Ty Templeton
Publisher: Vertigo/ DC
In this issue, the focus is mostly on Bug-Bee-Gone’s Stretch as him and Saloth go to a bug exterminator convention (I had no idea those existed). While Saloth harasses a Stephen Hawking-wannabe about his “mousder”, a rat with spliced DNA from a spider, and then goes to meet someone about the truth about the stuff BBG uses as pest control, Stretch meets up with some old friends one of who is planning on making bug exterminating more commercialized with dancing go-go exterminators (with ultra sexy gas masks!!), fancy suits, and all that jazz. Stretch and the old friend, called Troy, go and have lunch which leads to a game of poker and Stretch getting lucky with a lady. At the end of the book, Stretch hits the jackpot again as he’s about to get beaten up by some casino goons as he supposely robbed their safe.
Even though I’ve only read the two trades of The Exterminators, it was easy to get into the issue. Templeton’s art was great for this story and the bug exterminator convention was just too weird of an idea for words. Good stuff.
To discuss.
